Make A Difference Entertainment – a charitable film, TV and online production company based in West London has been awarded funding from the People’s Heath Trust, Lloyds Bank and the School For Social Entrepreneurs to run a community cohesion project in Hayes, Hillingdon.
Starting in October 2015 the project will run for two years where local residents will collaborate to make programmes for the MADE in HAYES online TV channel. MADE in HAYES runs sessions every Saturday at the Townfield Community Centre, Townfield Square, Hayes, UB3 2EL from 10am – 6pm.
After leading video production workshops Make A Difference Entertainment (MADE) founder Blaise Singh was approached by young people from the Townfield ward to collaborate on a project that aims to create stronger social links within neighbourhoods. The MADE in HAYES project is about allowing participants to take lead and ownership of programme-making giving them a chance to address issues of importance and unite the diverse communities of the borough through entertainment.
MADE Founder and local resident Blaise Singh said ‘this is a great opportunity for creative community members to challenge stereotypes and improve the reputation of Hayes as a great place to live, work or visit. We’re over the moon and grateful to be supported by our funders and local people on this exciting, fun and engaging media project.’
This user-lead project will broadcast the team’s work on an online channel launching in January and will host regular sharing events with the wider community to encourage talking points. Participants and sessional staff are looking forward to making a real differencce whilst having a great time in the process.
